Fourth Forum of MGIMO Graduates Unfolds in Astana

October 5th-7th, the fourth Forum of MGIMO alumni is taking place in Astana. The event was organized with the support of Fattah Chodiev, a member of MGIMO’s Board of Trustees and Endowment Fund, also a graduate of 1976.

On the first day of the Forum, the delegation from MGIMO led by its Rector Anatoly Torkunov visited Nazarbayev University, the most prestigious educational institution in Kazakhstan and participated in an expert discussion of the «Kazakhstan 2050» development strategy. The guests were also taken on a tour of the National Museum of the Republic of Kazakhstan. In the evening, the delegation attended a reception hosted by Kazakhstan’s Foreign Minister Kairat Abdrakhmanov.

October 6th, the grand opening will take place in the Palace of Independence with the participation of the Chairman of the Senate of Kazakhstan Kassym-Zhomart Tokayev, the Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the Foreign Minister of Kazakhstan Kairat Abdrakhmanov.

The program of the forum comprises a number of discussion sessions devoted to world trade, integration, post-soviet society, cooperation in education and culture. MGIMO representatives will also meet with the management of Karaganda State Technical University to sign an agreement on cooperation.
