31 August 2023

Until September 10, the MGIMO Ventures Tashkent international accelerator accepts applications for startups at the MVP stage and on that seek to scale their technology in Uzbekistan market and other countries. The program is implemented on the basis of a MGIMO branch in Tashkent as part of the Priority 2030 program and in partnership with the MGIMO Endowment and the venture capital company Startech.vc. You can apply on the official website of the program.

Since 2022, four technology programs of MGIMO Ventures have already been successfully implemented in Russia on the MGIMO basis, with a total of 680 projects applied, and 86 startups become participants. The accelerator in Uzbekistan is a continuation of the technological programs of MGIMO Ventures, that are now getting international significance.

MGIMO Rector, Anatoly Torkunov:

“MGIMO is not only the most international university, but also an entrepreneurial one. MGIMO graduates are successfully doing business in Uzbekistan and other countries - both world-famous businessmen and aspiring entrepreneurs. MGIMO Ventures Tashkent will bring together best practices and develop new initiatives.”

A partner and the operator of the program is Startech.vc, a well-known company in the venture capital market, which has already successfully implemented more than 70 programs for technology projects.

Alexandra Linnikova, co-head of programs for startups at MGIMO Ventures, COO of Startech.vc programs, CEO of Startech.Base:

“MGIMO Ventures Tashkent is a new major project for Startech.vc. With a promising demographic potential and a market that is not oversaturated with innovations, Uzbekistan presents significant opportunities for the technological products development. Our goal with this accelerator is to support entrepreneurs who are looking to grow and scale their startups. We are happy to continue our cooperation with MGIMO and are confident that during the program our team will help the participants achieve significant results.”

Also, the Yandex Cloud platform and IT Park of Uzbekistan became partners of the accelerator.

Projects developing in the fields of FinTech, EdTech, AgroTech, FoodTech, MedTech, LingvoTech, LegalTech HRTech and GovTech are invited to participate in MGIMO Ventures Tashkent. Among other startups are ones developing solutions for E-commerce, Tourism/Events, SaaS and Business Intelligence. In total, 15 startups will participate in the program.

As part of the accelerator, the organizers will help startups improve their business metrics, bring the product to the market of Uzbekistan and other countries, get acquainted with the country's technological ecosystem and prepare for cooperation with large local companies. At the same time, startups from Uzbekistan will be supported in their technological projects development both in the country’s domestic market and while entering a foreign one.

During the program, participants will be able to deeply work out business processes with personal trackers who are professionals in the technology projects development. Startups will see expert sessions in the form of consultations with practicing experts from various business sectors.

The participants will have meetings organized with representatives of large companies that are partners of the program to discuss potential launching of pilot projects and further cooperation.

An important part of the acceleration program will be networking and exchange of experience with other projects. Startups will have access to a community of successful entrepreneurs, consisting of MGIMO Ventures alumni, while the projects activities will be covered in the media.

The main part of the program will be held online. Participation for startups is free.

Demo Day, at which the finalists will present their work results, will be held in person in December in Tashkent with the opportunity to participate in an online format.
