Refinitiv Laboratory (ex.Thomson Reuters) Opens at MGIMO

June 19th, a ceremony marked the opening of a Refinitiv laboratory (ex.Thomson Reuters) at MGIMO. The event was attended by MGIMO’s Vice-Rector for Legal and Administrative Issues Sergey Shitkov, the Dean of the School of International Economic Relations, Oleg Pichkov and representatives of Refinitiv (ex.Thomson Reuters). Subscriptions are made at the expense of the investment income of the Endowment.

In his welcome words, Sergey Shitkov underlined the importance of introducing, in the University and the School of International Economic Relations, new educational software for financial analysis. The Vice-Rector also remarked that MGIMO and Thomson Reuters have had an on-going cooperation for many years and many faculty members of the University have attended advanced training courses for working on Eikon terminals.

The Dean of the School of International Economic Relations, Oleg Pichkov, noted that Thomson Reuters has laboratories at all the leading universities in the world. Starting from September 2019, activities on Eikon terminals will be integrated into the educational process of the School of International Economic Relations. Students will use Eikon to extract data and information and to participate in tender simulations. The terminals will also be used in different MA programs and in the dual undergraduate program jointly carried out with the University of Reading.

Representatives of Refinitiv (ex. Thomson Reuters) extended their thanks to the leadership of the University for their support for the initiative, spoke about the new formats and areas of cooperation between MGIMO and their company and agreed to pursue the training courses and master classes for MGIMO teachers.
