New MGIMO Course “The Stock Market for Private Investors of the Mass Affluent and HNW Segment” on Coursera

MGIMO has uploaded a new course on the Coursera platform entitled “The Stock Market for Private Investors of the Mass Affluent and HNW Segment”, which is a follow-up of a previously published course on “How to Enter the Private Investors Stock Market in the Mass Retail Segment”.

The Associate Professor of the International Finance Department V.Paramonova created the course, in the framework the Working Group on the implementation of a digital educational environment at MGIMO on the basis of the School of International Economic Relations with the assistance of the School of Business and International Proficiency.

Students discover in the course the types of intermediaries and financial instruments used on the stock market for private investors with funds ranging from 100 thousand to 5 million dollars (Mass Affluent and High Net Worth segments); learn about the difference between the financial instruments and services usually used in the Mass Retail segment and the assets and intermediaries the selected segment has access to; find out about the advantages of individual trust management, how to correctly interpret the main characteristics of alternative assets, such as units of closed-end funds for qualified investors, structured products, and how to manage the associated risks.

The course is designed to teach some of the theoretical foundations and practical skills that qualified private investors need in order to select the right tools and intermediaries in the stock market for each type of operation.

Students who have successfully completed the initial course “How to Enter the Private Investors Stock Market in the Mass Retail Segment” and those who wish to develop their skills in this field can complete this course, which requires some basic knowledge in economics and financial mathematics.
