Category: Endowment Stories Meeting of the ASEAN Centre’s Executive Board 11 February 2022 The 19th Meeting of the ASEAN Centre Executive Board was held on February 11, 2022. Among the participants of the meeting were H.E. Eat Seyla, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Cambodia to the Russian Federation and ASEAN Co-Chair of the Board, H.E. Haini Hashim, Ambassador of Brunei Darussalam to the Russian Federation, H.E. Jose Antonio Morato Tavares, Ambassador of the Republic of Indonesia to the Russian Federation, H.E. Vilavanh Yiaporher, Ambassador of the Lao PDR to the Russian Federation, H.E. Lwin Oo, Ambassador of the Republic of the Union of Myanmar to the Russian Federation, and H.E. Sasiwat Wongsinsawat, Ambassador of the Kingdom of Thailand to the Russian Federation, along with a number of diplomats from other ASEAN embassies. The Russian party of the Executive Board was represented by MGIMO Vice-Rector for Science and Research Dr. Andrey Baykov, Co-Chair of the Board, Mr. Andrey Lyamin, Deputy Director of Asian and Pacific Cooperation Department, the MFA of Russia, and Professor of MGIMO University Dr. Nikolai Maletin. Dr. Andrey Baykov welcomed the members of the ASEAN Centre’s Executive Board. He noted that despite the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic the last year was rich in events devoted to the double anniversary of ASEAN-Russia relations and Dialogue Partnership. During the year 2021 the ASEAN Centre’s team organized a number of academic, educational and cultural events, including the international conference dedicated to the discussion of the ASEAN-Russia cooperation in the framework of the XIII RISA Convention, the ASEAN Week and the ASEAN Academic Days. Dr. Andrey Baykov also informed the members of the Executive Board that the ASEAN Secretariat official approved the nomination of Dr. Ekaterina Koldunova as the Director of the ASEAN Centre. The meeting’s agenda covered the report on the ASEAN Centre's activities in 2021, the Centre’s financial report for 2020-2021 and its indicative work programme for the year 2022. Dr. Ekaterina Koldunova, Director of the ASEAN Centre, Ms. Ekaterina Tronevskaya, Deputy Director and expert Dr. Valeria Veshinina made presentations on these agenda items. During the discussions, the ASEAN partners complemented the Center on its activities and made some recommendations and proposals for its upcoming work. As the meeting came to a close, the sides agreed to submit the reviewed documents for the final approval to the Russia-ASEAN Joint Cooperation Committee to be convened soon in Jakarta.
