Viacheslav A. Fetisov

First Deputy Chairman of the State Duma Committee on Ecology, Natural Resources and Environmental Protection

Born on April 20, 1958 in Moscow, a pupil of CSKA Children's and Youth Sports School.

In 1983 he graduated from the Military Red Banner Institute of Physical Culture (Leningrad) twice in the specialty: team, physical culture and sports.

From 1976 to 1989 he served in the USSR Armed Forces (CSKA).

Honored Master of Sports of the USSR, Honored Coach of Russia, Honored Worker of Physical Culture of the Russian Federation, two-time Olympic champion, 13-time USSR champion, ten-time European champion, seven-time world champion, three-time winner of the Stanley Cup. From 1982 to 1989, he was captain of the CSKA team and captain of the national ice hockey team.   

In 1989-1998 he was a player in the National Hockey League clubs "Detroit Red Wings" and "New Jersey Davils" (USA). From 1998 to 2002 he worked as a coach of the New Jersey Davils hockey team (USA).        

From September 2001 to April 2002, he was a general manager of the Russian national ice hockey team.

He was introduced into the Professional Hockey Hall of Fame, the Hall of Fame of National Hockey and the Hall of Fame of the International Ice Hockey Federation. Member of the Triple Golden Club. Champion of UNESCO in sport. Awarded the Golden Olympic Order by the International Olympic Committee.

In April 2002, he was appointed Chairman of the State Committee of the Russian Federation for Physical Culture and Sport. In 2004, he was appointed Head of the Federal Agency for Physical Culture, Sport and Tourism. From 2004 to 2008, he was head of the Federal Agency for Physical Culture and Sports.

From 2008 to 2016 - Head of the Federal Agency for Physical Culture and Sports. - He is a member of the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation from the Legislative Assembly of the Primorsky Krai.

In 2016, he was elected Deputy of the State Duma from the Podolsk single-seat constituency.

He has numerous state awards for outstanding services in the field of development of physical culture and sport: the Order "For Services to the Fatherland" of II, III and IV degrees, the Order of Honor, the Order of Friendship, the Order of Lenin, the Order of the Red Banner of Labor, two orders "Badge of Honor", the Badge of Honor "For Services in the Development of Physical Culture and Sports". 

Special representative of the State Duma in international inter-parliamentary and public organizations on sports development.

UNEP Goodwill Ambassador in Russia.

Goodwill Ambassador of the World Tourism Organization.

Special Olympics Global Ambassador.
