Andrei Yu. Vorobyov

Moscow region governor

He was born April 14, 1970, in Krasnoyarsk.

From 1988 to 1989, he served in the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation.


In 1995, he graduated North Ossetian State University in Vladikavkaz.

In 1998, he graduated All-Russian Academy of Foreign Trade of the Ministry of Trade of the Russian Federation, with a major in Intermational Economy and Foreign Languages.

In 2006, he graduated State University Higher School of Economics (Moscow). He has an MBA degree in Political and Business Communications.

He also defended a thesis in Russian Academy of the State Service at the President of the RF, having become a candidate of Economics, majoring in Formation and Development of investment potential of the depressed region of the South of Russia.

Working experience:

In 1991-1998, he organized and developed his own business.

In 1998-2000, he held a post of a General Director of Russian Fish Company, JSC.

In 2000, he worked as an assistant to the Deputy Prime Minister of the Russian Federation Sergey Shoygu in the office of the Government of the Russian Federation.

In 2000-2012, he was a president of the Interregional Public Fund for support of the United Russia All-Russian political party.

In 2002-2003, he was a Member of the Federation Council of the Russian Federal Assembly, being a representative of the Executive Body of the Republic of Adygea, a Deputy Chairman of the Federation Council Commission for control over the activities of the Federation Council, member of the Federation Council Committee on budget and taxes.

In 2003-2011, he was a deputy of the State Duma of the Russian Federal Assembly of the fourth and fifth convocations and a Deputy Leader of the United Russia political party.

In 2005-2012, he was a head of the Central Executive Committee of United Russia political party.

Since 2011 until November 2012, he was a deputy of the State Duma of the sixth convocation, a head of United Russia political party and a Deputy Chairman of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

From 8 November 2012 until 8 September 2013, he had been an interim Governor of the Moscow region.

Since September 10, 2013, he is a Governor of the Moscow region.
